Frequently asked questions.
Answers to common setup and buying questions.
How do I pick the right Chile eSIM plan?
Base it on trip length and habits, then compare the data plans and their features. The 1 GB plan at €1.90 is an affordable short-stay pick when the hotel has Wi-Fi, while 3 GB at €4.99 leaves more room for maps and messaging. For a longer multi-stop trip, 5 GB at €8.72 or 10 GB at €17.26 spreads across 30 days. These recommendations assume a typical holiday or vacation pattern; if you'll stream YouTube or upload photos, pick a larger allowance and keep big downloads for Wi-Fi.
Which networks does a Chile eSIM connect to?
Listed networks: Movistar Chile, WOM Chile. Connects to 4G/5G where the network offers it. Speeds and signal vary with your phone, location and network conditions.
Will 100 MB or 500 MB last through a trip?
Only for very light use. These small allowances suit brief messages or the odd check while most activity stays on Wi-Fi. A map update, an app download or a few photo uploads can eat 100 MB quickly. Our recommendation for daily travel is a GB plan with a validity that covers your full stay.
Will my phone run this eSIM?
An eSIM is a virtual sim card stored on your phone, so there's no physical card to swap. Check that your exact model and regional variant supports eSIM and that the device is network unlocked. On iOS, a compatible iPhone uses Add eSIM or a supplied QR code; Android adds the eSIM through network settings. Follow the manufacturer's guide and install while you have a stable connection.
When does my plan's validity start?
Follow the activation steps that come with your plan. Installing the eSIM card and starting its validity are not necessarily the same event, and 'instant installation' is not a speed guarantee. Keep the instructions offline and pick the travel line for data when you're ready at your destination.
Can I still use WhatsApp and receive bank codes?
You can keep your existing WhatsApp account and let it run over the travel eSIM's internet. This is a data-only plan, so it carries no ordinary calls or SMS. Bank verification texts still depend on your regular SIM, carrier and bank, so check your home carrier's charges before you leave that line switched on.
Can I tether my laptop to this plan?
The listed networks support hotspot. Any device you connect draws from the same data allowance. Any device you connect through tethering draws from the same total allowance, so the data hotspot isn't extra data. Pause cloud backups and system updates before you connect a laptop if you want the plan to last.
Is coverage guaranteed on Rapa Nui or the park trails?
No. Country inclusion is not a site-by-site reception guarantee, and we won't claim best coverage for Chile. The listed networks are Movistar Chile and WOM Chile, so check local availability for Rapa Nui or another remote stop before you rely on mobile data. CONAF notes mobile signal inside Torres del Paine only at Villa Monzino on Movistar, so treat most of the park as offline and save entries, maps and return arrangements beforehand.
Does this plan work across an onward border?
These offers cover Chile only. Arrange separate coverage for each other country on your itinerary, including any transit stop where you need data. A regional name or a shared operator brand doesn't extend this plan across a border.
Is the data unlimited, or does it renew daily?
No. You pick a fixed total allowance from 100 MB to 20 GB that's shared across the stated validity and any hotspot devices, and it doesn't renew daily. There's no option for 14 days (15 days is the closest), no plan for one month (30 days is not a calendar month), and a trip of 2 weeks usually fits the packages of 15 days or 30 days. Streaming and video calls burn through it fast. It's a prepaid plan, not a monthly contract, but 'no contract' in a search doesn't confirm refund or support terms, so read those before you buy.
What do I check when data won't connect?
Check that you're in Chile, the eSIM line is on and selected for mobile data, and the plan still has allowance and validity. Apply the supplied roaming and APN instructions to the travel line, then try airplane mode briefly or restart the phone. If reception quality is weak, move to another spot, and keep the eSIM installed while you get help.
Can I top up data or ask for a refund?
Check the options and purchase conditions that came with your order. Buying another plan doesn't automatically extend an existing one or move its remaining data. For questions about whether you can top up, activation or a refund, keep your order reference and setup details ready, because eligibility depends on the service's applicable terms.
Using your eSIM in Chile
A Chile eSIM for your itinerary
A Chile trip usually stacks Santiago airport transfers, Atacama desert tours and Patagonia park days in one itinerary, often for a first-time tourist or someone visiting family. Keep the phone online to coordinate each handoff, and pull down park reservations and remote route maps before the signal fades.
For a short Santiago stay, compare 1 GB for 7 days at €1.90 with 3 GB for 7 days at €4.99. A multi-stop trip can use 5 GB for 30 days at €8.72 or 10 GB for 30 days at €17.26. Pricing is per plan, not per day. The 100 MB plan is the cheapest, but the best price per GB sits with the larger allowances, and 'best value' depends on the days and data you actually use.
Connected where the listed networks reach
Listed networks: Movistar Chile, WOM Chile. Connects to 4G/5G where the network offers it. Speeds and signal vary with your phone, location and network conditions. Remote desert roads and park trails still need offline preparation, because a country listing doesn't guarantee reception in every park or on every island on either listed network.

Ready when you land.Torres del Paine, Chile
Santiago: sort the onward journey at arrivals.
Nuevo Pudahuel is Santiago's airport operator. Check its official transport page for current taxi, transfer and bus details when you land, and match the service to your accommodation address, keeping the booking and pickup point easy to reach.
Before you board, save the final leg from your stop to the hotel. Share the entrance with your host and update them if your arrival shifts. A data-only eSIM opens booking pages and messaging apps, but anything that needs an SMS still relies on a line that can receive one.
Save before you goTransport confirmation, the hotel address and the last leg from your arrival stop.
Atacama: pin down the pickup before dawn.
El Loa Airport in Calama is the air gateway for San Pedro de Atacama, roughly 100 km away by road. Confirm your onward transfer and the accommodation entrance before you depart, and save the details for the stretch between airport and town.
For a desert excursion, ask the operator whether pickup is at your accommodation or a central meeting point, then fix the time and return plan. Download the itinerary while you're connected; a bigger data plan won't give you stronger reception on remote desert roads.
Save before you goAirport transfer, excursion meeting point, the operator's contact and your route details.
Torres del Paine: keep reservations saved for offline use.
CONAF posts current park notices and links to Pases Parques for entry details. Trail access and visitor conditions change, so check close to your visit and match your entry to the itinerary you've booked.
Before leaving your accommodation, download your park entry and any overnight, bus or boat reservations your route needs. Agree the return pickup point and time with your operator, and keep a map and key contacts readable without a signal.
