Frequently asked questions.
Answers to common setup and buying questions.
How do I pick the right Slovakia eSIM plan?
Start by matching validity to your trip, then pick the allowance. Light holiday use suits 1 GB for 7 days at €0.27, while the 3 GB data plans run 7, 15 or 30 days. A 2 weeks visit (14 days) needs the 15-day option; the 1 day and one day figures describe your stay, not the package, and 30 days is not one month of automatic renewal. YouTube and WhatsApp video calls eat data quickly, so the 5 GB, 10 GB or 20 GB options suit a family vacation. These are recommendations, not a promise of best value: the cheapest listed plan is not always the best price for how you use data, so weigh each plan's pricing before you buy.
Which networks and speeds does the plan use?
Listed networks: Orange Slovakia, O2 Slovakia. Connects to 4G/5G where the network offers it. Speeds and signal vary with your phone, location and network conditions. That means 4G and 5G where each network provides them, with real speeds depending on your phone and location. We do not claim best coverage across Slovakia, and signal quality drops in valleys and indoors.
Will the plan still work after I cross the border?
No. Coverage is Slovakia only; Austria, Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Ukraine are not included. The country list belongs to this product, and neither a border crossing nor a well-known operator name extends it.
Can I share data with my laptop via hotspot?
The listed networks support hotspot. Any device you connect draws from the same data allowance. Tethering your laptop draws from the same data allowance, and updates or cloud backups can consume a large share of it. Pause automatic downloads or use a data hotspot only for what you need, switching to Wi-Fi for heavy transfers.
Which phones can use this eSIM card?
Use an eSIM-capable, carrier-unlocked phone and confirm the exact regional model. On iPhone running iOS, look for Add eSIM in the cellular settings and No SIM restrictions under Settings, General, About. The compatibility guide links to manufacturer instructions for Android and iPhone, since Android menus differ by maker. Compatible phones are the prerequisite; a virtual sim card still needs an unlocked device to install.
Should I install the plan before the trip?
Yes, install on reliable Wi-Fi before departure and save the instructions. Follow the activation guidance that comes with the plan: installing the profile and starting its validity are not necessarily the same moment, and there is no verified instant installation guarantee. If the plan uses a QR code, scan it during setup as directed. On arrival, enable the travel line and select it for mobile data.
Can I keep my regular number for WhatsApp and messages?
Yes, apps like WhatsApp can run over the travel data connection while you keep your usual account. Ordinary calls and SMS, including bank verification codes, still depend on your regular SIM and carrier, and this plan does not supply a local phone number. Check that line's roaming charges if you leave it active.
Does the allowance reset daily or stay unlimited?
Neither. Every listed plan has a fixed total allowance for the shown period, shared by your phone and any tethered devices, with no daily reset and no unlimited data. Match both the data and the days to your itinerary, since there is no 1 day plan to fall back on.
What if I run out of data or days?
Buy another listed plan if your trip requires it, and follow the purchase instructions before adding a new profile. A separate purchase does not automatically extend the current plan or carry over unused data, and top up is only available if your order offers it. Do not assume leftover credit or days transfer.
What do I check when there is no internet connection?
Confirm you are in Slovakia, that the eSIM line is on and chosen for mobile data, and that data and days remain. Follow the plan's roaming and APN instructions, then briefly toggle airplane mode or restart. Move to another spot if reception is weak. Keep the eSIM installed while asking for help, and give your phone model, location and order reference.
How do I keep my home SIM off roaming data?
Choose the travel eSIM as the data line, turn off automatic data switching and keep data roaming off on your regular SIM. Apply any roaming setting the travel plan requires only to the travel line. Voice calls and SMS can still attract separate home-carrier charges.
Where do I find help and refund terms?
Keep your order reference and setup details ready when you ask for service. Check the purchase conditions online for refund eligibility and the request process, since activation or use may affect eligibility. No contract or refund promise is guaranteed here, so read the terms shown at purchase. Do not delete an installed profile as a first troubleshooting step.
Using your eSIM card in Slovakia
A Slovakia eSIM card for your trip
Whether you are on a Bratislava city break or riding the rail line into the High Tatras, one data allowance covers directions, tickets and messages to your host. An eSIM card is a digital SIM that installs on a compatible, unlocked phone, so there is no physical card to collect. Its core features are data only, which suits tourists and people visiting family rather than anyone needing a local number.
For light use, 1 GB over 7 days costs €0.27. The 3 GB plan with 30 days at €1.56 suits occasional maps and messages over a longer stay, while 10 GB over 30 days at €4.77 gives room for uploads and app calls. These are fixed total allowances, not daily allocations, and the 50 GB / 180-day option is for an extended itinerary; it does not renew monthly. Check the pricing against your total trip, since what looks affordable depends on how many days you actually stay online.
City signal and mountain preparation
Listed networks: Orange Slovakia, O2 Slovakia. Connects to 4G/5G where the network offers it. Speeds and signal vary with your phone, location and network conditions. Download your trail route and confirm return transport before you head into the mountains. More data does not lift a weak signal in a valley.

Saved on the map.Bratislava, Slovakia
Bratislava: check the station before you board.
Bus 61 runs between Bratislava Airport and the main railway station, Hlavná železničná stanica. Check the airport transport page for current departures and stops before leaving arrivals. Save your accommodation address separately, since the station may only be a transfer point rather than your final stop.
Use your data to weigh the onward journey against your luggage and message your host that you are arriving. Keep the Slovak name of your stop alongside your own map pin. The internet can fetch ticket details, but this data-only plan cannot send a local SMS ticket request.
For a walk through the old town, pin the accommodation entrance before heading towards the castle. If your trip starts at an airport outside Slovakia, get data for that country as well; this plan only covers the Slovak section.
Save before you goThe accommodation entrance, your bus stop name and the connection from the main station. Save any ticket in the format the operator wants.
Poprad to the Tatras: pick the right mountain stop.
The Tatra electric railway links Poprad-Tatry with High Tatras resorts such as Starý Smokovec, Štrbské Pleso and Tatranská Lomnica. Check the current railway map and timetable for your exact stop and any change of train, since a booking that just says the Tatras does not tell you where to get off.
Before leaving your accommodation, pull up the rail ticket and ask your host which station sits closest to the entrance. Use the town connection to check the current weather and access notes for your outing, then save the route for offline use.
Treat the return journey separately from the outward one: note the station, departure and a fallback arrangement. Signal can vary with the terrain, so do not rely on mobile data to find your way back from a trail.
Save before you goKeep the rail map, your exact mountain station, an offline walking map and a back-up return plan.
