Frequently asked questions.
Answers to common setup and buying questions.
Which Sweden data plan should I pick?
For a short stay with light use, compare 1 GB / 7 days at €0.27 with the 3 GB options lasting 7, 15 or 30 days. Pick the validity that covers your trip, then raise the allowance for video calls, uploads or laptop use. The 5 GB and 10 GB plans each come in 7-day and 30-day versions, and 20 GB lasts 30 days. This page offers prepaid data plans from 1 GB to 20 GB, with the largest at 20 GB for 30 days and no 180-day plan. A visit of one day needs far less than a plan valid for 14 days, so match the validity to your itinerary. The 1 GB plan is the cheapest listed option, but cheapest is not the same as best value: a plan you drain on day two costs more in the end. No single plan has the best price or best coverage for everyone; what counts as affordable depends on your total trip cost, and 30 days is not always one month.
Which networks and speeds will I get?
Listed networks: Telenor Sweden, Tele2 Sweden. Connects to 4G/5G where the network offers it. Speeds and signal vary with your phone, location and network conditions.
Does this plan work outside Sweden?
Sweden only. Denmark, Norway and Finland are not covered. The coverage list belongs to this product; a border crossing or a familiar operator name does not extend it.
Can I use the data hotspot for a laptop?
The listed networks support hotspot. Any device you connect draws from the same data allowance. Laptop updates and cloud backups can consume a large share of the allowance. Pause automatic downloads, and reserve tethering for short tasks while using Wi-Fi for the rest.
Will my phone work with this eSIM?
Use an eSIM-capable, carrier-unlocked phone and check its exact regional model. On iPhone, look for Add eSIM in mobile settings and 'No SIM Restrictions' under Settings, General, About. On Android, the path is usually Settings, Network & internet, SIMs, Add SIM, but menus vary by maker, so follow your manufacturer's recommendations for compatible phones.
Should I install the eSIM before travelling?
Install on reliable Wi-Fi and save the instructions before your holiday, then follow the activation steps supplied with the plan. Installing the profile and starting its validity are not necessarily the same event, so 'instant installation' does not mean the plan starts the moment you scan the QR code; check your plan's guidance for when validity begins. On arrival, enable the travel line and select it for mobile data.
Can I keep my usual phone number for messages?
Your existing internet messaging account, such as WhatsApp, can use the travel data connection. Ordinary calls and SMS, including bank verification codes, still depend on your regular SIM and carrier, so check its roaming charges if you leave that line active on vacation. This plan does not supply a local number.
Is the allowance unlimited or reset daily?
All listed plans have a fixed total allowance for the shown period, shared by your phone and any hotspot devices, with no daily reset. Match both the data and the days to your itinerary. There is no unlimited option, and a one-day visit needs far less than a 30-day plan. If you are searching for a 'no contract' plan, note that each option here is a one-off purchase rather than a monthly subscription, but you should still read the purchase terms before buying.
What if I run out of data or time?
Choose another available plan if your trip needs more. Follow the purchase instructions before adding a profile; a separate purchase does not automatically extend the current plan or preserve unused data. Only use top-up or profile-reuse options if they are offered for your order; top-up amounts and rules are not confirmed on this page.
What if I have no internet after arriving?
Check that you are in Sweden, your eSIM line is on and selected for mobile data, and the plan still has data and validity left. Follow its roaming and APN instructions, then briefly toggle airplane mode or restart. Try another location if reception is weak. Keep the eSIM installed while seeking help and give your phone model, location and order reference; the same checks apply on Android and iOS.
How do I stop my home SIM from using roaming data?
Select the travel eSIM for mobile data, disable automatic data switching and keep data roaming off on your regular SIM. Apply any required travel-plan roaming setting only to the travel line. Voice calls and SMS can still carry separate home-carrier charges.
Where do I check help and refund terms?
Keep your order reference and setup details ready when requesting help. Read the purchase conditions for refund eligibility and the request process; activation or use may affect it. Do not delete an installed profile as the first troubleshooting step.
Using your eSIM in Sweden
A Sweden prepaid eSIM for your trip
An eSIM card is a virtual SIM card that installs on a compatible, carrier-unlocked phone, so there is no physical card to collect. Its core features are 4G/5G data and hotspot sharing. One data plan can cover the airport transfer, a city stay and an archipelago day trip, for tourists, independent travellers or people visiting family, if you save tickets and maps before each offline stretch.
The 1 GB / 7-day plan at €0.27 suits light use and is the cheapest listed option. For a 14-day stay, the 3 GB / 15-day plan at €1.59 covers the whole trip, while 3 GB / 30 days at €1.59 stretches maps and messages further and 10 GB / 30 days at €4.90 leaves room for uploads, YouTube streams and app calls. These are fixed total allowances, not daily amounts, so compare the pricing and the allowance before you buy. The largest option is 20 GB for 30 days; there is no 180-day offer here.
Built for the city and the islands
Listed networks: Telenor Sweden, Tele2 Sweden. Connects to 4G/5G where the network offers it. Speeds and signal vary with your phone, location and network conditions. Save island maps and boat details before you leave the mainland. A country plan does not promise signal on a ferry, inside a forest or at every remote address, so check the operator's coverage notes if signal quality matters to your route.

Arlanda: match your ticket to the right train.
Arlanda has several rail options, including commuter trains and a dedicated express service into the city. Check which service your ticket names and follow its platform signs rather than assuming every train stops in the same place.
Check the airport's transport information for your arrival date and confirm the full fare, including any airport station surcharge. Save your ticket and hotel address before leaving the terminal; a city connection can still leave a separate local journey.
Once in Stockholm, share an exact meeting pin if friends arrive by different routes. Keep large app updates and photo backups on Wi-Fi so the data allowance stays available for directions and changed bookings.
Save before you goYour rail company, platform guidance, ticket and the last leg to your hotel.
Stockholm archipelago: save the exact pier, not just the island.
Public boat services run through the Stockholm archipelago. Pick the island and exact landing stage in the operator's journey planner, then check departures for your date; similar island or pier names can send you to the wrong boarding point.
Check the ticket rules for the boat you plan to use. Do not assume every city transport ticket covers every archipelago service; the operator publishes the current combinations and conditions. Have the ticket ready in the required form before boarding.
Save the last suitable return and an earlier option before setting off, and share the pier and meeting time with companions while you still have a connection. Mobile reception can vary across the water and islands, and extra gigabytes do not remove that limit.
Save before you goYour chosen departure and return piers, the relevant boat timetable, ticket rules and a saved island map.
