Frequently asked questions.
Answers to common setup and buying questions.
How do I pick the right Honduras eSIM plan?
Choose among these prepaid data plans based on trip length and usage. The 1 GB plan valid for 7 days at €5.30 suits light internet use with regular Wi-Fi. For longer stays, compare the 3 GB plan valid for 15 days at €15.52 with the 5 GB plan valid for 30 days at €25.75. Note there is no option valid for 14 days or for 2 weeks, so a stay of 14 days or a trip of 2 weeks needs the plan valid for 15 days. A stopover of one day still uses the shortest plan, which has a validity of 7 days, and there is no plan valid for 1 day. These are fixed-total plans, not a monthly subscription, and they include no local phone number. Buy online before you travel to review all options and offers; the cheapest plan is not the best coverage for video on YouTube or WhatsApp, and we will not rank one as best value or best price without your usage. These are sizing recommendations.
What mobile networks are available in Honduras?
Tigo Honduras and Claro Honduras list 4G/LTE and hotspot support, but neither has confirmed 5G. Your phone's operator and the local network determine the actual service quality; on Android or iOS, compatible phones receive 4G where available. The data hotspot features are supported on both networks, but reception varies by location, and network availability is not a guarantee in every building, on every road or at sea.
Is my phone compatible with this eSIM?
Your phone must support eSIM and be network unlocked. Check the exact model and regional variant with the maker; recent iPhone, Android and iOS devices are often compatible, but only compatible phones that are network unlocked will work. An eSIM card is a virtual sim card built into the phone; installation uses a QR code or another method from your purchase, and you can install it before travel. See Apple's eSIM setup guide (opens in a new tab).
When should I install the eSIM, and when does the plan start counting days?
Install over a reliable Wi-Fi connection when the supplied instructions allow, and check online for any activation deadline before you fly. Installation and the start of validity are not always the same event, so read the plan's activation trigger and first-use deadline. Do not count on instant installation at the airport; allow a few minutes with Wi-Fi.
Can I keep using my regular phone number for messages?
On a compatible dual-SIM phone, keep your regular line for calls and texts while selecting the travel eSIM for mobile data. The plan does not include a local phone number, so use internet apps like WhatsApp to stay in touch with family. Turn off automatic data switching and keep data roaming disabled on your home line; home-carrier charges can still apply.
Can I use my laptop as a data hotspot?
The listed networks support hotspot. Any device you connect draws from the same data allowance. When tethering a laptop or tablet, the data hotspot uses the same allowance as your phone. Avoid streaming YouTube or large downloads; internet updates and cloud backups draw from the same total, so watch your usage, especially if you work online.
Will one plan work across my entire Honduras trip?
One plan works across Honduras wherever its supported networks are available, so a tourist on vacation does not need a new plan in each town. Whether you are on holiday or visiting family, the same operator's network applies, but remote areas or ferry crossings can have gaps; international border crossings sit outside this country-only coverage.
What steps should I take if mobile data won't connect?
Confirm the travel eSIM is enabled and selected for mobile data, and apply its supplied roaming or APN instructions to that line; check the operator's online help for model-specific features. If the service quality is poor, verify the allowance and validity, then try airplane mode or a restart. If it still fails, use Wi-Fi to contact support and keep the installed profile.
Can I add more data or get a refund later?
Check the purchase conditions for top up availability, expiry and refund eligibility before you buy. These are prepaid data plans with no contract guarantee; compare options and offers to see which pricing is affordable for your trip. We do not rank one as best value or best price without your usage, and the cheapest is not best coverage. Use recommendations as a starting point, and remember there is no monthly subscription; keep your order reference for support.
