Frequently asked questions.
Answers to common setup and buying questions.
How do I pick the right Peru data plan for my trip?
Base your choice on trip length and actual download use, not the largest headline number. An affordable plan is the one whose total cost matches your stay, not the biggest total. There is no single best value or best price for every traveller, and no plan changes the network's reach, so be cautious with any best coverage claim. Compare the listed data plans on total cost against your itinerary: a trip of exactly 14 days fits the 15 day option, and a 2 weeks visit can also use that same validity. A 30 day stay fits the 30-day plans. My recommendations remain to keep heavy downloads on Wi-Fi and leave some headroom for delays.
What operator and network does this eSIM connect to in Peru?
Listed networks: Movistar Peru. Connects to 4G/5G where the network offers it. Speeds and signal vary with your phone, location and network conditions.
Are the smallest allowances realistic for a trip?
The 100 MB and 500 MB plans are the cheapest options and the smallest totals, best reserved for occasional checks when most of your use stays on Wi-Fi. Maps, app updates and photo uploads can burn through them in one day. For daily travel use, compare the gigabyte plans and pick a validity that covers your whole stay.
Does my phone work with this eSIM?
Only compatible phones that are eSIM-capable and network unlocked will work, so confirm your exact model and regional variant. On a compatible iPhone running iOS you can use Add eSIM or a supplied QR code, while Android and Pixel phones add the line through their SIM or network settings. An eSIM card, sometimes called a virtual sim card, stores the plan on the phone with no physical card. There is no instant installation guarantee; timing depends on your phone and the steps supplied, so install over a reliable connection.
When does my validity actually start?
Follow the activation instructions supplied with your plan; installing the eSIM and starting its validity are not necessarily the same event. Keep those instructions offline and set the travel line as your data line when you are ready to use it in Peru.
Can I keep WhatsApp and still get bank codes?
You can keep your existing WhatsApp account and run it over the travel eSIM's internet connection. This is a data-only plan with no ordinary calls or SMS. Bank verification texts still depend on your regular SIM, carrier and bank, so check home-carrier charges before leaving that line on.
Can I use a data hotspot for my laptop?
The listed networks support hotspot. Any device you connect draws from the same data allowance. Every connected device draws from the same total allowance. Pause cloud backups and system updates before you connect a laptop if you want the plan to last, since tethering a laptop can drain data fast.
Will I stay online the whole way to Machu Picchu?
Reception changes through mountain valleys and at individual sites. Use the plan where the operator Movistar Peru has service, but download entry confirmations, transport bookings and maps beforehand. Extra gigabytes increase your allowance, not the reach of the network.
Does this plan cover me beyond Peru's borders?
These offers include Peru only. Arrange separate coverage for every other country on your itinerary, including transit stops where you need data. A regional name or a shared operator brand does not extend this country plan.
Is the data unlimited or daily reset?
No. You pick a fixed total allowance from 100 MB to 50 GB, shared across the stated validity and any hotspot devices; it does not renew daily. A 30 day plan lasts about one month, but thirty days is not always a calendar month and there is no monthly subscription. Even 1 day of YouTube streaming can use a large share of a small plan.
What do I check when data will not connect?
Confirm you are in Peru, the eSIM line is enabled and selected for mobile data, and the plan still has data and validity. Apply the supplied roaming and APN instructions to the travel line. Toggle airplane mode or restart the phone, then try another location if reception is weak. Keep the eSIM installed while seeking help.
Can I top up or get a refund?
Check the options and purchase conditions supplied with your order before you buy. Buying another plan does not automatically extend an existing one or carry over its remaining data. For top up eligibility, activation or a refund, keep your order reference and setup details ready; eligibility depends on the applicable terms and use. Read those terms rather than relying on a 'no contract' promise, which this page does not confirm.
